It’s so much fun because it’s a Forester — it LOOKS slow. Then you get into 2nd gear and floor it and it’s like BYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeee..........

I want one

I love small wagons and my wife and I both especially like the looks of the Forester. The trouble with small wagons, however, is that they do not have a secure boot. So I stick with 4-door sedans. And vans.

Factory sleeper! I love it

You should try a 2005-2007 Legacy 2.5GT wagon. Looks even closer to a base model (very small subtle scoop is only difference) and is even faster.

Did you return the favor and have him/her drive your CELICA?

I liked mine, 2005 has the 4.444 final so is a rocket ship off the line

I have a 2016 XT, and it sucks off the line, but once you get it going it sure can move.

What I like about the Forester community is that there are people doing everything with them; The offroad guys are lifting them up, the expo guys are outfitting them, the sport guys are tuning them, the stance bros are scraping them, the mileage guys are working on them, the rally guys are racing them.. then the other 90% of owners are just driving them around everyday.

No one is lining up for that thing. THEIR LOSS

How was the wind noise? That’s the only thing I couldn’t stand about that generation Forester.
![]() 06/13/2016 at 14:53 |

I only drove it for a few minutes so I couldn’t say. I’m sure it’s still quieter than any of my vehicles

I just missed one of these in that color locally for $7500 with low miles... damn my CL skills...

my brothers both had LGT’s of that ilk...they are not faster than a 2005 forester...ask me how I know.
![]() 06/13/2016 at 16:38 |

I drove that same car (but in silver) for years and the wind noise never bothered me. High freeway rpms? yup, NVH? yup...wind noise? nope.

The NVH in Subarus is so bad but maybe it was just a one-off? Literally cannot drive at highway speeds and have a conversation or have the music volume not near max.

My dad had a 2005 and considering it has the same engine and weigh similar (the legacy weighs 50 lbs more, 3,242 vs 3,300) they would be comparable. The legacy is also more aerodynamic with a coefficient of 0.30 for the wagon vs 0.38 for the forester. Though an auto would seriously ruin the performance of either of them.

yeah, I had a 2005 xt and one brother had an auto LGT with a tune and one the manual LGT stock. The forester would work both of them up to 60, from there it was as you say. The 2005 forester had WAY lower final drive than the LGT’s
![]() 06/13/2016 at 17:16 |

Still would have the legacy over the forester.

The LGT looks better and is more “grown up” but the Forester was to be used as a mini suv and it towed with it as well as took it camping and such...as it was it was a pretty great compromise between outdoors like and oppo life....but I needed more outdoors in my life so it went away.

That gen Forester xt would also school a wrx at that time....
![]() 06/13/2016 at 17:49 |
|
yup, the bigger STI motor with the smaller WRX turbo and that aforementioned final drive made it pretty formidable off the line. Interesting to note that the LGT engine is NOT the same engine in the FXT, as they had plastic intake runners vs the STI/FXT alloy runners.

Yeah... I pretty much HATE subarus.... fucking hate them...
But I’d rock the the hell out that generation Forester xt......
![]() 06/13/2016 at 17:51 |

well I certainly wasn’t getting a wrx wagon. I look terrible in flat brimmed hats.

Everybody looks horrible in flat brims!

Foresters are good, even better with a few bolt ons, mine is fun to drive.
